Things May Be Starting to Look Up!

I was so excited when I saw a posting on my all time favorite blog, Fashionista.com, about the advertising sales in the magazine and newspaper industry starting to rise.

According to Fashionista:

Apparently advertisers went on a bit of a spending spree in the last quarter of 2009 and it’s happily carrying over into 2010, even in the newspaper sector which was suffering even more terribly than the glossies. And if March issues are any indication, the freefall may just be over.

Bill Wackerman, publisher of Glamour, says that they expect their numbers to be up 6-7% from that same issue last year. (March is always a major spending month for fashion and retail advertisers.) And Vogue’s Tom Florio says that the March, April, and May issues are “tracking up at this time…but it is too soon to call.”

I don't even need to mention what great news this is. It gives me a better feeling about being in my last semester of school as I start to look for job opportunities in the industry. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
