You Have Got To Be KIDding Me

I was just visiting one of my favorite blogs, the Sartorialist, when I saw an ad on the side for American Apparel. This is what I saw:
Ok....I wore leggings as a kid. And yes, most of them were hideous. But at what point and to what event does a child need to wear metallic leggings?

My answer: NEVER

Gossip Girl Inspired Line By Anna Sui for Target

So, you may think I'm a total loser (and trust me, I totally am) but I follow Gossip Girl on Twitter.

This is where you point and laugh.

Anyways, according to "her", Anna Sui's new line for Target is inspired by the hit TV Show/book series. I feel that some of the outfits are a little too literal, but others are great! I'm just afraid of the fabrics that will be used for this line. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel that the Target lines are usually made with stiff fabrics and are a little boxy in shape. But there are definitely some gems in there.

You know I will def be buying some items in this line.

It will be available in stores and online September 13 through October 17. Can't wait!!

NYC Prep- Who Do You Think You Are?

So today as I was sitting on the couch, bored out of my skull, I caught myself stuck on Bravo. I had gotten up in Tabatha's Salon Takeover reruns. As an episode ended, I went to change the channel to catch reruns of "Just Shoot Me" (I loooove that show. I mean come on, it's at a fashion magazine!) when I heard Bravo's new show, NYC Prep come on.

I debated to myself, change the channel? Or stay and watch and judge these kids on how shallow and overall ridiculous they are?

I'm still not sure if I made the right choice.

So I decided to watch. And let me just say, if you haven't watched it don't. If you're a Gossip Girl fan and are expecting it to be somewhat like that, you'll be disappointed. And even if you aren't, it is an utter waste of time.

First off, I really don't like watching kids who are 16 and 17 years old complaining about not getting a perfect score on their SATs. It doesn't matter, little girl, since your family is rich you will get into whatever school you want. Also, it's bad enough watching these adolescent girls run around bragging about how much money they spend and how "status is everything", but to make matters worse you have to watch these basically prepubescent boys trying to get some booty.

And you know, I thought maybe I would be able to see some cute clothing, and you know what some of it was kind of cute. That Jessie girl had some cute outfits that she had her PERSONAL SHOPPER pick out for her. But I'm sorry, if you want to get into the fashion industry, it's better if you can actually pick out your own clothing. That's just my opinion.

That Kelli girl looked  cute in her leather jacket, but whatever so does everyone else.

Also, can these girls, especially Camille and Taylor, please invest in a decent hair straightener? I mean, I have curly hair so I know how hard it can be to get your hair super sleek. But I straighten my hair with a Revlon straightener. These young ladies can easily afford a CHI if not better.

So yea, this show is just as superficial as you would imagine, and you can't even enjoy it as trashy TV because it will just make you sick about how these young kids get everything handed to them and feel entitled to everything.

I'm just saying....

A Change of Pace

I was a little confused when I saw the July issue of Allure with Fergie on the cover. Not because it is a bad picture, because it definitely is NOT, but because it wasn't a portrait shot or an up close shot of Fergie's face. For the past 6 issues, celebs have been gracing the cover of Allure exposing no more than from their chest up (more or less). Others, such as Taylor Swift, Jessica Biel, and (how can we forget?) Blake Lively have had no more than from their shoulders up shot. It is a nice change to have 90% of Fergie's body shown on the cover. Thanks for changing it up a bit, Allure.

Update....Born Famous Couture

I was mistaken when I said I didn't know where to find the Born Famous Couture collection. According to the website you can find their apparel at Hot Topic, Torrid, and Alloy. I know this now because this weekend I strolled into Hot Topic and saw some of their stuff! Unfortunately the top I previously showed was not there. All you have to do is go to these stores and look for the cute little pink tag above.

Feeling Teased...

As I was reading the July issue of Nylon, I came across this very adorable top.
It is by Born Famous Couture and costs a mere $22. I was in love. So what do I do whenever I see something I love in a magazine that I feel that I can afford? Find it online! Well, I found the Born Famous Couture website, where to my horror I realized you cannot purchase anything. My heart is forever broken. To find out where you can purchase this and the rest of their collection visit their website.

Appalled by Bazaar's Bizarre Cover

I saw this story on fashionista.com and I was mortified. This is in fact the July 2009 cover of Harper's Bazaar. According to Fashionista, this photo of Angelina Jolie is from a red carpet event in December. They continue to say how this cover "reeks of tabloids", however I think it reeks of laziness.

True, Angelina's face tends to draw people in, and like Fashionista mentions, it is a sales trick. Although Angelina is on the cover, there is no interview with the star, like there usually is with the cover women. Instead, there is an article about how women wish to have a life like Ms. Jolie's.

I think this is so lazy on Bazaar's part. You seriously couldn't put someone decent on your cover and actually obtain an interview with them? Is this a result of the economy? Or lack of planning? Whatever it is, I feel like it is a compete waste of an issue, if you ask me.

It really pains me to see and say all of this becaues Harper's Bazaar is my absolute favorite fashion magazine, but truth be told, I'm not sure if I want to buy this issue.

I most likely still will, just for the sake of my collection of fashion mags, but my heart won't be in it.

Who Says Fashion Isn't Art??

According to Harper's Bazaar's Twitter page, Christain Louboutin has a new ad campaign designed by P. Lippmann. It's incredible. I love the still lifes! Enjoy!!
