Designer Dosage: Alexander McQueen

I have decided to add some consistency to my blog. I want to have a bi-weekly posting called Desginer Dosage. It is going to be a little blurb about whatever designer I choose and give you just a little information on them. Should be fun! To kick it off, I felt it was appropriate to begin with a fun and vivacious designer.

Full Name: Lee Alexander McQueen

Birth date:
March 17, 1969

Hometown: London, England

Alexander McQueen

Claim to Fame:
Controversial and shocking tactics. Known as "the hooligan of English fashion"

Apprenticeship at Savile Row tailors Anderson & Sheppard at 16, then worked at Gieves and Hawkes, and then Angels and Bermans. At 20, he spent a period of time working for Koji Tatsuno before going to Milan, Italy to work for Romeo Gigli. In 1994, he returned to London and applied to Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. He received a Masters degree in Fashion Design. McQueen's graduation collection got bought by fashion stylist, Isabella Blow. He became head designer at Givenchy in 1996, succeeding John Galliano, and stayed there until March 2001.

“What we do have in London is a fantastic pool of talent coming through the colleges. We are the fashion world's incubator.”
Favorites from Alexander McQueen's spring/summer 2010 line.
