Claim to Fame: An emphasis on color, print, and shape, with influences of vintage and color blocking.
Career: Although Castiglioni had no schooling of fashion, she created Marni in 1994. She was known for her contributions to fur design, which stemmed from her husband's family fur business. Castiglioni named the business after her sister, Marni. Today the company produces an array of ready-to-wear, handbags, jewelry, and eyewear. What was once considered a "well kept secret" to "a label followed for its own sake." In 2007, Marni produced its first men's line. Castiglioni has always been the label's chief designer and was responsible for Marni's aesthetics of "European-inflected bohemianism."
